Sue came into my studio a little bit earlier this year for a portrait shoot. She started off with having her hair and make-up done and then brought in some of her favourite dresses and outfits to get some different looks. Her gorgeous little daughter, Holly, joined in at the end of the session to get some beautiful mother and daughter images of the two of them.
I met Andrea, Warwick and their gorgeous little girl, Annabelle, for a shoot at Muizenberg beach on a chilly late winter's afternoon. She is a beautifully busy and curious little toddler who wouldn't stand still for long which always makes for a bit of unpredictability and fun.
Sylwia is a mixed media artist who does beautiful and inspiring illustrations and watercolours, some of which you can see here. She also takes lovely photos of her family but she wanted images where she was included - it seems to be the story of most mother's lives where they are behind the camera and not really included in the photos themselves.
She was on holiday in Cape Town all the way from Ireland wth her gorgeous little girl and husband - we met fairly early one morning on Camps Bay beach to do a shoot.
They were out from the UK for a holiday in Cape Town and we met at Muizenberg beach.
I have photographed Taryn and Grant a few times over the years - back when they were a couple, their wedding day and with their gorgeous little boy, Ethan, when he was a bit younger.
They were down in Cape Town from Joburg for a few days and we met early in the morning at Llundudno beach when the light was soft and lovely.
Shireen and Matthias were out from Switzerland with their family in Cape Town for a few weeks and we started off the shoot with a portrait session of their gorgeous daughter, Shania, in celebration of her 17th birthday. We then created some other family portraits until the rain arrived in earnest and ended the shoot. A little bit of rain always makes things interesting...
I photographed Nicky and Lily at my studio - they are both very 'girly' girls and so it was fun to do something pretty and feminine with them. I absolutely love photographing mothers and daughters. Nicky (as all women) kept on going on about how she wasn't feeling very photogenic and would prefer to do the shoot another time but she is so beautiful as she is... there is no time like the present.
Nicky's husband's Marc popped in for a few shots after he finished work so it was great to get a family portrait too.
There was quite a lot going on at this portrait shoot. First the ladies came in to have their hair and make-up done and then the kids arrived - while the kids were fresh, we photographed them and then spent some more time photographing the ladies.
I photographed Lisl and Don's wedding nearly ten years ago and they now have two most beautiful little girls, Amelia and Isla. I photographed them in my studio a few weeks back. How gorgeous is Amelia? I love photographing little girls in studio as they tend to sit still and love the camera.
Studio work is a bit different to my normal kind of style but it's lovely to shoot in a controlled environment (out of the wind) to get more classic and timeless images where the focus is on people more than the environment.
I photographed this lovely family when Jasper turned one and now there is a beautiful addition to the family - Parvati; who has also just had her first birthday.
We met up on a beach in Seapoint early in the morning - one of my favourite times of day to shoot when the world and light begins to wake up.
Denise, Jordan were out from Kent in the UK on holiday in Camps Bay with their two beautiful little girls, Isla and Sadie. I met them in the early morning to do a shoot on Camps Bay beach.
I love photographing little kids as they are so unaware of the camera and are just free to be themselves.
I met Gary and his extended family early in the morning for a beach shoot - his in-laws were all out in Cape Town on holiday from various parts of the world and so he thought it would be a great idea to do a shoot with everyone together. With three little kids in the mix it was bound to be a bit chaotic.
I always feel like I need four pairs of eyes with shoots like this, there are so many things happening. The wind was howling in true Cape-summer-style as usual... these guys were very chilled about it all.
