I absolutely love documenting people at different phases in their life journey - I photographed Candice and Aaron's wedding in Stellenbosch a few years back and now they are very relaxed and lovely parents to the most edible little guy, Finlay.
Little Dylan was born after just 27 weeks inutero and weighed just 480 grams at birth. Hayley and Duncan spent the first few months of his life traipsing in and out of NICU.
There was no time to do a maternity shoot or any of the 'usual' things that first-time-moms get to do when preparing for the arrival of their baby and so Hayley commented that this shoot felt like the first little step of normality in terms of becoming a mother.
Dylan is super-cute with huge and beautifully curious eyes and Hayley and Duncan are such besotted parents.
I photographed little James when he was just a tiny baba a few months ago and now he has grown so much at 7 months old; and obsessed with eating his hand. We started the shoot at a park in Claremont and then headed home for some shots in a tub of water which he absolutely loved. What a cutie.
I photographed Jenny and Jorn's wedding quite a few years back in Stellenbosch and they haven't changed at all.
After a few years of marriage, they've now had a gorgeous baby boy, Sam, who was 8 months old when we did this shoot. I had to laugh when Jorn said to me: 'You know, I never used to like coffee but now I have it all the time'. (After having babies I felt exactly the same; the level of sleep deprivation with those gorgeous creatures can be something else.)
I met them at their home in Mowbray and then headed to the park and local cafe.
I photographed Giuseppe and Nicole's wedding at The Cradle in Joburg way back at the end of 2007 and did a couple shoot with them in Cape Town in 2010 so I feel like I've known them a very long time. I absolutely love witness my past wedding clients' journey into parenthood.
When I asked Nicole how she was enjoying motherhood, she sighed and said 'Oh, I am so besotted.' How gorgeous to see you guys as such fabulous parents - and baby Raoul is so edible with his bright blue eyes and cute little mouth.
I so love photographing the pure and sweet innocence of babies and the love that parents have for this new little being in their lives.
I photographed baby James when he was two weeks old at home in Claremont. I couldn't quite get over the fact that Claire looked so fabulous with a two week old.
