I photographed Nicky and Lily at my studio - they are both very 'girly' girls and so it was fun to do something pretty and feminine with them. I absolutely love photographing mothers and daughters. Nicky (as all women) kept on going on about how she wasn't feeling very photogenic and would prefer to do the shoot another time but she is so beautiful as she is... there is no time like the present.
Nicky's husband's Marc popped in for a few shots after he finished work so it was great to get a family portrait too.
There was quite a lot going on at this portrait shoot. First the ladies came in to have their hair and make-up done and then the kids arrived - while the kids were fresh, we photographed them and then spent some more time photographing the ladies.
Tarryn took a day off work and came into the studio on her 29th birthday - what a beautiful way to celebrate yourself. She is a gorgeous woman with the most beautiful hair and face and kindest heart.
Her husband, Leigh joined her towards the end of the shoot along with their three doggies for a very brief session - a bit of chaos :-)
After their viewing session, they chose a portfolio box and a tri-frame with three images - I absolutely love getting images printed and off the computer.
Nosiphiwo contacted me at the end of last year and wanted to do a more glam pregnancy shoot with several different looks.
We started off at her home in baba's nursery and then came to the studio for a few shots too.
What a glamourous mama!
Grace and Festus were together in Cape Town from America and Kenya - we met early one morning at Llundudno beach on the Atlantic coast. Sometimes on location you find the most amazing light that you could never have hoped for and this was one of those mornings.
I photographed Lisl and Don's wedding nearly ten years ago and they now have two most beautiful little girls, Amelia and Isla. I photographed them in my studio a few weeks back. How gorgeous is Amelia? I love photographing little girls in studio as they tend to sit still and love the camera.
Studio work is a bit different to my normal kind of style but it's lovely to shoot in a controlled environment (out of the wind) to get more classic and timeless images where the focus is on people more than the environment.
Bas contacted me to do a shoot of himself as a gift for his mother as well as some updated headshots. We started off in studio with a few changes of backdrop and clothing and also did a few shots outdoors for something a bit more relaxed. Bas said that he didn't like the camera much but I think he's pretty good in front of the camera (with a bit of a Brad Pitt thing about him?).
Shahra came into my studio where she had her hair and make-up done and then she brought several changes of clothing including the most amazing belly-dancing outfit, most of which she made herself. Bellydancing with Soma is a big part of her life and she wanted to incorporate that into her shoot. I had so much fun spending a morning with her and photographing her gorgeousness.
Not only is she a multi-talented dancer/creator but is also super-brainy and one of the nicest people I've met whose favourite colour is red.
